This Basic Foundation Agility Workshop, run by 2 experienced agility handlers, is for owners and dogs wishing to start their agility training journey.

The fun sport of agility has changed massively in the last few years and continues to evolve, so we never stop learning. Our dogs now need to be taught drive, confidence and ro be able to do all the equipment independently.

With all this in mind we intend to cover the following:

  1. The importance of toys in training.
  2. Understanding positive reinforcement.
  3. The use of voice (ie. pitch and tone) and eye contact.
  4. To build up speed we will use restrained recalls to toys, treats and jumps. Tunnels and what to look for as part of a course.
  5. Wing wraps and how to tighten them.
  6. Turns - Pivots, Front cross, Rear cross, Ketcher.
  7. Depending on how we all get on and if time allows we will go onto basic touch targets as a preliminary to contact equipment.

You will need: Sensible flat shoes, a collar or harness, lead, a toy  (tuggies are ideal), a mat or towel, treats,  dog(!) and most importantly a sense of fun as we want you and your dog to enjoy the experience. You may also like to bring your own chair.
